DPWH, AFP discuss Atrocity Prevention in Western Visayas

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 met with the officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to tackle the prevention of insurgencies in the region.

DPWH Region 6 was represented by the District Engineers led by Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leano, Jr. and OIC-Assistant Regional Director Jose Al. V. Fruto while the AFP officials were headed by Brigadier General Francisco Delfin, the Assistant Division Commander of Camp Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz.

Bgen. Delfin stated that the AFP and DPWH must work hand in hand to prevent atrocities in the province and enhance the “makabayan” spirit in everyone.

In addition, Cpt. Clynde Lebin, Assistant S3 301st Batallion of Camp Hernandez in Dingle, Iloilo, discussed the developments in terms of communist activities particularly their attacks on government project sites.

He also led the discussion to formulate a solution or system to prevent future atrocities and tackled the threat situations, communist disposition, extortion processes and their recommendations on these matters.
