Q2 meeting of DPWH Planning Engineers held in W. Visayas

The Department of Public Works and Highways Regional (DPWH) Office 6 hosted the 2nd Quarter Coordination Meeting of Regional and District Planning Engineers at the Eon Centennial Hotel and Waterpark last May 17, 2018.

OIC-Chief Marilou G. Zamora of DPWH Region 6 Planning and Design Division welcomed the participants, followed by an opening remarks from Bureau of Design (BOD) OIC-Director Lea N. Delfinado who discuss the organizational background of the BOD.

She also urged the engineers to acquire a strong technical knowledge to plan effectively and ensure that projects are delivered on time.

Several speakers from BOD gave an interactive lecture-discussion about topics on estimating the discharged of ungauged basins using stream flow information; issues and concerns with recent policy issuances related to highway design; updated standard single span bridges; alternative bridge railings; new era of modern engineering surveys; safety design of buildings; as well as discussion of results of design and road safety engineering audit.

BOD OIC-Assistant Director Edwin C. Matanguihan formally capped the meeting with a closing remarks, and a fellowship night ensued right after dinner where performers from different regions amused the participants.
