
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed road improvement works along Guimaras Circumferential Road in Guimaras Province in time for its “Manggahan Festival” this May.
District Engineer Rhodora B. Nuñal of DPWH Guimaras District Engineering Office said road repair along the 1.7-kilometer San Miguel, Jordan section of the Guimaras Circumferential Road was rushed for completion to provide better traffic access to both foreign and local tourists who are expected to flock the province during the celebration.
“We ushered the completion of these projects, particularly fronting the Provincial Capitol, which will be very busy during the whole duration of the festival,” Nuñal said.
Aside from the road improvement project, DPWH is also implementing the construction of drainage system along Guimaras Circumferential Road in the amount of P73.096 Million, with the total length of 6.5 kilometers.
Nuñal said that the portion of the drainage, particularly at the front of the Provincial Capitol was completed while other portions were held in abeyance so as not to obstruct the movement of traffic during the celebration.
