The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo City District Engineering Office (ICDEO) is currently undertaking the rehabilitation/improvement of various road sections in the metro.
According to District Engineer Rodney A. Gustilo, these road sections are dilapidated and need to be rehabilitated, for a safer and more convenient travel, hence, it is expected that traffic flow would be a bit inconvenient while the work is ongoing.
“We apologize to the public for the inconvenience that the road rehabilitation may cause. Rest assured that once these works are completed, better transportation access would be felt by our motorists and the public, in general,” Gustilo said.
ICDEO is currently implementing the rehabilitation/concreting of various road sections in the city, among others, are: Lapaz Deep Sea Water Port Road in Lapaz district, in the amount of ₱18.815 million; Iloilo City-Leganes-Dumangas-Coastal Road in the amount of ₱14.533 million; San Juan Street, Molo in the amount of ₱25.350 million; and San Jose Street, Molo in the amount of ₱8.704 million.
Likewise, the office is undertaking the rehabilitation of Mapa Street in City Proper area and M.H. Del Pilar Street in Jaro district, thus, portions of these roads are temporarily closed to vehicular traffic.
In addition, ICDEO will be implementing the improvement of three more road sections, namely: Molo Boulevard in Molo district; Sta. Cruz-Bonifacio Street and Yulo Street, both in Arevalo district; and M.H. Del Pilar Street in Molo district, which involves demolition of existing dilapidated road, excavation works and pouring of concrete pavement.
“One lane of the said road sections will be temporary closed to traffic on February 19 to September 20, this year,” said Gustilo.
“We have already coordinated with the Iloilo City Transportation Management and Traffic Regulation Office (TMTRO) for re-routing of vehicular traffic,” he added.
