
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Region 6 held a regional consultation and orientation on the Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (ROLL-IT) program at Hotel del Rio in Iloilo.
DPWH District Engineers, DTI Provincial Directors and Local Government Unit (LGU) representatives gathered per congressional district to indicate several industries and identify suitable ROLL-IT projects followed by presentation of outputs.
They were tasked to identify potential industry road projects using the Road Leveraging Linkages Evaluation Rating System (ROLLERS) Guidelines and submit the list of proposed projects for FY 2019 with the required supporting documents, not later than March 15, 2018.
DPWH Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leano Jr. said that through ROLL-IT, both agencies are going the extra mile by ensuring inclusive growth.
“As DTI aims to boost economic development in the rural part of the country, our responsibility in DPWH is to complement this noble feat by literally and figuratively paving the way to advancement and triumph”, he added.
Likewise, DTI Regional Director Rebecca M. Rascon stressed that the regional consultation will further enhance the way of identifying projects for the countryside and infrastructure is one of the pillars in cities and municipalities that will improve the connectivity for trade and industry growth.
