Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 officials met with twenty-one contractors and their representatives to discuss the policy direction of President Rodrigo Duterte for contractors to finish projects within 30 days.
Assistant Regional Director Jose Al V. Fruto, together with Chief of Construction Division Ormel G. Santos and the Project Engineers, sat down with the contractors and urge them to hasten the implementation of various infrastructure projects to meet the demands of the President.
President Duterte also reminded everyone through the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) that there should be no open holes or canals everywhere, either they cancel the contract and allow somebody else or somebody else’s endeavor to, if they have funds.
Mambusao Mayor Leodegario A. Labao, Jr., emphasized during the meeting that contractors and the implementing agency should coordinate with the Local Government Units (LGUs).
Despite of road right of way (RROW) cases, unfavorable weather condition, security threats that are among the reasons of delay on project implementation, contractors showed willingness in working out the issues with the Project Engineers of the Regional Office.
ARD Fruto urged the contractors for their cooperation and reminded them to find ways as much as possible to avoid negative slippage.
