Roughly 1,800 senior high school students in the northern part of Iloilo can now enjoy the five (5) new school buildings constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo Third District Engineering Office.
District Engineer Flordelis C. Enriquez said they have completed the construction of two units of 2-storey, 8-classroom building at Carlos Lopez National High School and one unit 2-storey, 6-classroom building at Nicomedes R. Tubar National High School, both in the town of San Dionisio, in the amount of ₱23.900 million and ₱8.814 million, respectively.
The District Office has also completed the construction of one unit 2-storey, 6-classroom building at Granada National High School in the municipality of Carles in the amount of ₱9.394 million.
“These four buildings in various schools, with a total of 28 classrooms can accommodate approximately 1,400 students, considering the 1:50 classroom-student ratio,” she added.
Meantime, Engr. Enriquez said that another unit of 2-Storey, 8-classorom building in the amount of ₱12.170 Million was constructed at Tambaliza National High School, an island school in the town of Concepcion, and is scheduled to be turned over to the said school.
“This school building can accommodate a maximum of 400 senior high school students in the island of Tambaliza and its neighboring islands,” she said.
“In convergence with Department of Education (DepEd), we will be constructing more school buildings in various towns in the northern portion of Iloilo province, to cater the needs for classrooms of the increasing number of the students, due to DepEd’s K-12 program,” she added.
