DPWH Completes 727 Infra Projects in Western Visayas

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed in CY 2017 P5.715 Billion worth of infrastructure projects in Western Visayas Region.

DPWH Region 6 accomplished a total of 727 projects out of the 1,084 programmed projects in the amount of P23.310 Billion under FY 2017 Regular Infra Program, which includes construction of roads, bridges, flood control structures and other infrastructure to include roads leading to tourism areas in the islands of Panay, Negros and Guimaras.

Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr. reported that projects completed were 113.19 kilometers of national roads in the amount of P2.270 Billion; 528.13 lineal meters of bridges amounting to P485.576 Million; 40 flood control projects in the amount of P928.142 Million; 17.26 kilometers of roads leading to tourism destinations in the amount of P351.715 Million; and 532 other infra projects in the amount of P117.300 Million.

Other than the completed projects, the DPWH Region 6 is also undertaking a total of 342 on-going projects in the provinces of Iloilo, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.

In addition, DPWH Region 6 completed a total of 40 projects or 20.53 kilometers of farm-to-market road with a total value of P189.000 Million funded by the Department of Agriculture.

DPWH Region 6 has a total allocation of P31.956 Billion for the fiscal year 2018, about 37 percent higher than the 2017 budget, to Build…Build…Build using the peoples’ revenues to accelerate infrastructure development and foster faster sustainable growth.
