Following the mandate of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to ensure swift repair of the damaged infrastructure affected by Typhoon Vinta, Department of Public Works and Highways  (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar vowed to ensure that all affected roads and bridges are passable by January.

“The heaviest damage are in Dalama Bridge, Daligdigan Bridge, and Pinuyak Bridge,” Villar noted.

“I’ve inspected each of the affected bridge and we’re implementing a 24/7 construction schedule to ensure that the deadline set by the President is met.

The Dalama Bridge is a 27.6 meter bridge located in Munai, Lanao del Norte.

“The approach of the Dalama bridge is damaged. Actual damage cost is about 40 Million. In the long-term, we’re looking at constructing a revetment in the area,” Villar said.

The Pinuyak Bridge is a 49 meter bridge in Lala, Lanao del Norte spanning from Maranding to Pinuyak Alternate Road.

“We are also studying the possibility of replacing the damaged infrastructure with a permanent bridge with revetment and approaches at the upstream and downstream,” Villar said.

The Daligdigan Bridge is a 49 meter bridge located at Salvador, Lanao del Norte.

“Following the deadline of the president, we will implement a 24/7 construction schedule,” Villar said.

“Before January ends, all damaged bridges will be passable,” Villar noted.
