ILOILO City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office VI conducted a mandatory random drug testing on December 15, 2017.
The said drug testing was done in compliance with Department Memorandum Circular No.16, series of 2017 of DPWH Assistant Secretary, B. Elizabeth E. Yap, which is a compliance of Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 13, series of 2017, re: Guidelines in the Mandatory Random Drug Test for Public Officials and Employees and for Other Purposes.
A total of 310 officials and employees led by Assistant Regional Director Jose Al V. Fruto, including Job Order personnel of the Regional Office drug testing administered by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office VI, which yielded 100 percent negative results for drug use.
ARD Fruto said that drug testing was conducted by the Regional Office to ensure that its officials and employees are free from drug use/abuse that may affect their work ethics and performance.
Mandatory drug test aims to ensure that government agencies remain drug free by subjecting public officials and employees to a random mandatory drug test for DPWH, as a condition for continuous employment. This is also to ensure the public of effective and efficient service, free from the hazards of drug use in the workplace.
