DPWH 6 Head inspects Guimaras projects

Officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Region 6 inspected two vital infrastructure project in the island province of Guimaras.

DPWH Region 6 OIC-Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr together with Guimaras District Engineer Rolando P. Ubaldo,  Region 6 Construction Division Chief Ormel G. Santos checked the progress of works for the widening of Mantangingi Bridge in Nueva Valencia and road opening of Guimaras Cross Island Road.

The widening of Mantangingi Bridge along Guimaras Circumferential Road in Nueva Valencia involves widening of four (4) spans, 15-meter Reinforced Concrete Deck Girder (RCDG) on Reinforced Concrete (RC) Piles foundation with 658 lineal meters approaches.

The project is being implemented by the Regional Office in the amount of P53.236 Million.

The bridge widening project, from two lanes to four lanes will complement the widened Guimaras Circumferential Road, which is expected to facilitate smoother flow of traffic in the province.

On the other hand, the new road opening at Guimaras Cross Island Road with a contract amount of P138.942 million involves construction of gravel road with the length of 4.87 kilometers that will provide link to the planned construction of Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge - one of the major infrastructure projects in Western Visayas under Duterte administration thru its “Build, Build, Build” program.

In his inspection, Leaño instructed the concerned project engineers to closely monitor activities of the contractors to ensure on time completion of the project.
