Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson reminded local building officials from Metro Manila and nearby provinces attending the Seminar Workshop on the National Building Code of the Philippines and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) to fully evaluate not only the submitted design plans and construction material specifications in the application for building permit but also to regulate and control the location of proposed structures particularly near rivers and waterways and implement the Code’s rule on sanitation that requires plumbing installation and suitable wastewater treatment or disposal system not connected from national drainage system. The three (3) day seminar from July 23 to 25, 2014 at Bayview Park Hotel is in line with the DPWH Secretary’s policy as the National Building Official to enhance the capability of designated or appointed local building officials in the implementation of the Presidential Decree 1096 or National Building Code of the Philippines and its IRR.
