After being conferred the ISO 9001:2008 in 2006, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office VI is now preparing the requirements for its transition to ISO 9001:2015.
During the launching ceremony, Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr. said that ISO 9001:20015 focuses more on risk-based thinking.
“This requires us to determine, consider and take action to address any risks or opportunities that might impact our Quality Management System (QMS)’s ability to deliver conformance or which might impact customer satisfaction,” he added.
ISO 9001:2015 also requires greater participation of top management as leadership engagement and management commitment are essential for the effective implementation of the QMS.
Assistant Regional Director Jose Al V. Fruto added that ISO is subject to regular review for continued improvement and meeting the need of the organization.
District Engineering Offices in Region 6 also held their respective launching ceremonies as a preparation for expected third party audit this year.
ISO 9001 is an international standard that provides the necessary requirements for QMS aimed at ensuring that products and services are delivered with utmost quality and meet customer demands.
