Two significant infrastructure projects are currently being implemented along Bancal-Leon-Antique Boundary Road in Leon, Iloilo.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 6 is undertaking the concreting of the existing gravel road going to Brgy. Bucari, which leads to Bucari Pineridge Mountain Resort of the “little Baguio” of Iloilo.
With the amount of P81.3 million, the project involves the road upgrading from unpaved to paved of 2.133 kilometers national road with 0.28-meter thick Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP), 6.70 meters wide.
The project also includes excavation, embankment, reinforced concrete pipe culverts, concrete line canal, slope protection (bio engineering), metal beams, guardrails and thermoplastic pavement markings.
Likewise, DPWH is implementing the rehabilitation of road slips, slope collapse and landslide in various sections of the said national road.
The project, with the amount of P75.2 million involves construction of slope protection with the total length of 445 meters.
Both projects are located within the jurisdiction of the Iloilo Fourth District Engineering Office and being implemented by the Regional Office.
Once completed, these projects would be a great help in boosting the tourism industry in the town of Leon under the Second Legislative District of the province of Iloilo; and will enhance the economic condition of the people in the area.
Transportation access of both people and products would also be a lot faster and more convenient when the said road upgrading is completely implemented.
