Villar: 4M jobs generated from govt infra projects since 2016

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) through the Build Build Build Program has generated record-breaking number of employment opportunities nationwide, employing over 4 million jobs since 2016.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said 4,199,228 jobs were generated from the road, bridge, flood-control and other infrastructure projects of the Department nationwide, with almost half of the numbers created from projects funded under 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct repair and maintenance works of national roads in Metro Manila starting 11 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019 until 5 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2019.

According to DPWH-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) Director Ador G. Canlas, the road reblocking activities will cover Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), southbound direction before New York Street to after Monte de Piedad in Quezon City, 2nd lane from sidewalk; and at the northbound direction fronting Baliwag Transit to New York Street, 1st and 2nd lane from the sidewalk.

Villar: All National Roads and Bridges affected by earthquakes are now accessible to public

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar announced that all national roads and bridges affected by earthquakes are now accessible to the public.

“The DPWH Quick Response Teams were able to assess, fix, and open various roads, bridges, and other infrastructure that were damaged by the recent earthquakes in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao,” Mark Villar noted.

DPWH Southern Leyte upgrades facility to make its office more PWD-friendly

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Southern Leyte field office has installed an elevator in their new building in an effort to address the accessibility concerns of persons with disabilities (PWD).

“I am happy that we are able to upgrade our facility here. We need to accommodate those differently-abled persons and stakeholders and integrate them into the mainstream society,” said District Engineer Ma. Margarita Junia citing laws requiring government agencies and private institutions to install facilities for PWDs.

Leyte 4th DEO experiences intensity III earthquake

An intensity III earthquake with epicenter at San Julian, Eastern Samar was felt in Ormoc City, at 1:37 PM today, April 23, 2019.

Meanwhile, staff and personnel of DPWH Leyte 4th District Engineering Office (DEO) executes duck, cover, and hold and proceeded to the outside premises of the building. Moreover, Leyte 4th DEO Construction, Planning, and Maintenance Engineers were deployed immediately to validate and check the extent of any damage to structures, roads, and bridges within the Leyte 4th area of responsibility.
