Residents are now guaranteed heightened safety and protection following the completion of a flood mitigation structure by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) along a section of the Talomo River in Barangay Calinan, Davao City.

According to DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, in a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, the flood control project situated in the Balite Section of the Talomo River is a vital countermeasure to minimize widespread flooding significantly affecting the living conditions of the residents in the area.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a flood mitigation structure along Mabiga River in Hermosa, Bataan, in an effort to regulate strong water currents and prevent soil erosion along the riverbanks and adjacent land area.

The P72.4-million completed project in Barangay Mabiga, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), spans 558.09 meters and consists of a reinforced concrete slope protection system with an elevated foundation, ensuring structural stability and enhanced flood control.
