Slope Protection Measure Ensures Motorist Safety in Cauayan, Negros Occidental

Road slope protection works completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now prevent road blocks along a portion of Bacolod South Road (BSR) in Cauayan, Negros Occidental.

DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel identified the project as the construction of two (2) slope protection walls with line canal and stairs measuring 460 meters and 331.5 meters, and installation of a 105.3-square meter active wire mesh system with type 4 permanent ground anchor erosion control mat along the BSR segment in Barangay Linaon.

DPWH Completes P96.5-M Riverbank Protection Project in Balagtas, Bulacan

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully extended the riverbank protection structure aimed at mitigating flood risks along Balagtas River, in Barangay Pulong Gubat, Balagtas, Bulacan.

A P96.5-million project, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), was completed which consists of additional riverbank protection spanning 252.80 linear meters. The structure also includes a 12-meter sheet pile foundation to enhance slope protection and reduce the risk of overflow during extreme weather conditions.

Built along the estuary or the downstream of Labason River where the river meets the sea, the project involved the construction of a 211.4-meter steel sheet pile river wall with concrete copping, including the installation of solar street LED lights as a safety feature.

DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao D. Dia said that the concrete structure now benefits residents, which consists of mostly fishing communities.

DPWH Fast-tracks Package 3 of Pulangi River Revetment Wall in Kibawe, Bukidnon

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is working on the completion of the third contract package of the Pulangi River Revetment Wall Project in Barangay Natulongan, Kibawe, Bukidnon.

In her report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 10 Director Lilibeth N. Aparecio said that a combined amount of ₱91.1 million has been released under the 2022 and 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for Packages 1 and 2, resulting in the construction of a total of 401 lineal meters of concrete bank protection along Pulangi River.
