LPA Rendered CARAGA Roads Impassable

Incessant moderate to heavy rains due to a low pressure area over the weekend has rendered some roads in CARAGA (Region 13) and Davao Region (Region 11) as impassable.

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Caraga (DPWH-13 has reported landslides, road slips, and floods in different parts of the region particularly along the national highways, which were rendered temporarily closed to public traffic.

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Caraga (DPWH-13 has reported landslides, road slips, and floods in different parts of the region particularly along the national highways, which were rendered temporarily closed to public traffic.

DPWH Adjusts Bunkhouse Sizes to Conform to Acceptable Standards

Responding to the observation of some international observers, the Department Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will adjust the sizes of the temporary shelters or bunkhouses to conform to acceptable international standards.

“Bunkhouses or temporary shelters were requested by the DSWD and the LGUs and the sites were likewise identified by LGUs,” said DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson.

Government Builds Tempoary Shelter at Reduced Cost

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) assured that the construction of temporary shelters for typhoon “Yolanda” affected families in Eastern Visayas are not overpriced.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said that bunkhouses constructed in identified sites by concerned Local Government Units (LGUs) comprising 24 units for same number of families were completed at a cost of P836,017.00 which is lower than the original estimated cost of P959,000.00.

Government Improves Roads and Bridges in Calabarzon

More than 380 kilometers of national roads and close to 500 lineal meters of national bridges were completed in Southern Tagalog Region or CALABARZON area in CY 2013. Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 4-A Director Huillio B. Belleza said that the completed roads and bridges in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon is contributory to the vision of Secretary Rogelio L. Singson to pave all national arterial roads by end of 2014, and all national secondary roads and make all bridges along national roads permanent by middle of 2016.

Creek Improvement Project

The rehabilitation of slope protection along Mahabang Ilog Creek in Brgy. Maybunga, Pasig City is one of the three (3) major Flood Control projects funded by DPWH-NCR thru the First Metro Manila Engineering District (FMMED), aimed to mitigate if not totally eradicate the flooding woes of the low lying residential communities of Brgy. Maybunga and the adjacent Barangays of Rosario and San Miguel.
