Construction of Hall of Justice Building at Brgy. Plainview, Mandaluyong City

This is an on-going project of the Metro Manila 1st District Engineering Office (MMIDEO)-NCR at Brgy. Plainview, Mandaluyong City which is a four-storey building and is now on its final construction phase. This is one of the DPWH Regular Infra Project that has a great impact to the public considering that it will house eighteen (18) courtrooms and a post office for the City of Mandaluyong. Target completion date is on December, 2014

P81-M Namuac Bridge in Cagayan Now Open for Public Use

Pursuant to its mission of providing quality infrastructure facilities responsive to the needs of the Filipino people, Department of Public Works and Highways recently inaugurated a newly rehabilitated bridge located along Manila North Road in Barangay Namuac, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan. DPWH Region 2 Director Melvin Navarro led the opening of the new Namuac Bridge, together with Cagayan Second District Representative Baby Aline Vargas-Alfonso and other Sanchez Mira municipality officials.

DPWH Sets Repair of Metro Road This Weekend

Preventive maintenance works on sections of three major highways in Metro Manila were scheduled this weekend by the Department of Public Works and Highways National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR).

DPWH-NCR with clearance from Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), will undertake road re-blocking and rehabilitation works on four road sections in Quezon City, Makati and Mandaluyong City from 10PM on May 9, 2014 (Friday) until 5AM on May 12, 2014 (Monday).

DPWH to Implement Revised Design Standard for Concrete Roads

To address the early deterioration of roads due to damaging effects of overloading, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) prescribed the use of concrete pavement with minimum thickness of 280 millimeters and with steel dowels in all transverse joints.

The new standard will be applied for national arterial and secondary road projects to be funded in the proposed CY 2015 Infrastructure Program including planned foreign-based projects not yet bid out.

Asec. Soguilon Presides Meeting with Region 6 Executives

A special meeting was called by DPWH Assistant Secretary Dimas S. Soguilon together with DPWH 6 Regional Director Edilberto D. Tayao and Assistant Regional Director Lea N. Delfinado last May 5, 2014 at the Conference Room of DPWH Regional Office 6.

Present at the meeting are District Engineers, Assistant District Engineers, and Monitoring Engineers of various District Engineering Offices (DEOs) in Western Visayas.

3 Sections of EDSA to Undergo Repair This Weekend

The Department of Public Works and Highways will resume its concrete re-blocking and road repair in three areas of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) this weekend.

DPWH with clearance from the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), will continue EDSA road works effective at 10PM on May 2, 2014(Friday) until 5AM of May 5, 2014(Monday) on the following road sections:

Mandaluyong City
• Southbound – Along EDSA between Connecticut and Libertad;
• Northbound – Along EDSA between Temple Drive and United Street.

New Roxas Bridge Opens

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson of the led the inauguration of the newly constructed Culasi-Libas Bridge and Approaches, along Roxas City Circumferential Road, in the province of Capiz last April 12, 2014. Secretary Singson was joined by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas and Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya.

DPWH Pushes for "No Homes Under Bridge"

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson calls on the local government units (LGUs) in ensuring the protection of infrastructure facilities.

Singson said that LGUs specifically barangays are in the position to call attention of its residents, including the informal families living under bridges and on esteros.

Just recently, a fire broke out at Quiapo area involving shanties living under the Quezon Bridge forcing DPWH to limit the passing of vehicles to up to 10 tons only as safety precaution.
