DPWH Bids 6 Flood Control Project in Southern Leyte

Six flood control project of the Department of Public Works and Highways Southern Leyte District Engineering Office (DPWH-SLDEO) were bid out as a preparation for the forthcoming rainy season.

The flood control projects are located along the SubangDaku River, Southern Leyte’s largest river, and is divided into six sections: Hibod-Hibod, Kanangkaan, San Juan, San Vicente, Suba, and Zone 3.

Assistant District Engineer Allan D. Eway said the river has been tagged as a priority for flood control system considering its vulnerability to soil erosions.

DPWH NDSF Finishes 64 Infra Projects

The Northern Samar First District Engineering Office (NSFDEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a total of 64 infrastructure projects as of October.

Headed by Officer-in-Charge District Engineer Mario G. Soriano, the district office targets a total of 101 infrastructure projects for 2016.

The remaining 34 projects are still ongoing while 3 projects are not yet started and waiting for approval of the Program of Work (POW) and Plans at the regional office.

Villar Inspects Major Projects in Region 8

Public Works Secretary Mark Villar inspected the proposed Storm Surge Protection: Road Heightening and Tide Embankment Project and three other on-going constructions of by-pass road projects upon his visit in Region VIII.

The 27.3 km Storm Surge Protection is divided into six sections in Tacloban City, Palo and Tanauan, Leyte and is expected to save lives and properties of people who live in an estimated of 33, 185 buildings.

The project is part of the agency’s rehabilitation and recovery program for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
