The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) was cited by the Office of the Civil Defense – CAR for its disaster response efforts during Typhoon “Lawin” in October 2016.

Last December, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar ordered the construction of a footbridge after watching a video posted on Facebook by Yasmin Mangorsi which shows a young boy and his sister struggling to cross a river using a tight rope bridge in Barangay Lanipao, Iligan. The bridge is now complete.
