Engineer Ronnel Montanez Tan assumed the duties and responsibilities of a Regional Director for the Ilocos Region in 2018.
He served as OIC Assistant Regional Director in Regional Office I in December 2, 2014 and Regional Office V on August 2, 2013. Prior to these assignments, he was the District Engineer of Siquijor District Engineering Office since 2011.
In 1994, he was awarded as the Most Outstanding Public Employee of DPWH Region IV-A and was also named as the 1995 DPWH Model Employee of the Year by then Secretary Gregorio R. Vigilar for the implementation of infrastructure projects specifically the water supply projects in the Southern Tagalog. As District Engineer, he bagged the coveted 2008 Best District Engineer Award and named 2nd runner up in 2009 for his exemplar performances.
He attended various trainings such as the Engineering Management Leadership in Support of DPWH Strategic & Operation Planning (Phase 2); Component I -Training on Management Leadership and Operational Planning (Batch 3); Follow up Session of the Career Executive Service Leadership and Wellness Camp; Conference on Road Maintenance and Management; and Comprehensive Training for DPWH Field Engineers. He also participated in the 28th San Diego Environmental System Research Institute, Inc., San Diego, California, USA. He also attended the Essentials of Good Public Management conducted by the Civil Service Institute; Executive Leadership and Management Capability Enhancement Program conducted by the department and the Development Academy of the Philippines.
Engineer Tan graduated magna cum laude in 1985 with the degree of Bachelor in Civil Engineering at the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, the same school where he earned his Master in Business Administration.
He was born in Gumaca, Quezon Province.
