Women Do Highway Maintenance Jobs

For so long, road maintenance was seen as “men's work” but women equipped with training are proving that they can also do the job and play an integral part in taking care of our highways.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), supporter and advocate of women empowerment, promotes gender sensitivity and social responsibility by providing non-traditional jobs for women.

DPWH to Hire 536,523 Local Labor

More than half a million people will be employed in various infrastructure projects for the year 2014.

The Department of Public Works and Highways estimated that 536,523 local labor will be created under the Community-Based Employment Program (CBEP), a priority program of President Benigno Aquino III’s administration, providing short-term employment to skilled, semi-skilled, and low-skilled workers in the community.

Japanese Gov't. Donates 2 Excavator-Dredgers to DPWH

The Japanese Government through Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Toshinao Urabe, turned over two (2) units of amphibious excavator- dredgers to the Philippine Government through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said that the donation is a welcome and timely gesture as the agency is currently preparing for the rainy season when flashfloods and landslides come unexpectedly.

Motorists and the general public are advised to expect traffic slowdown/build-up in some sections of major thoroughfares in Metro Manila as the Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) resumes road improvement and maintenance works in the following areas effective 10 PM of March 14 (Friday) to 5 AM of March 17, 2014.

Temporary Bridge in Lanao to Undergo Repair

Bridge experts from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office will undertake ten (10) –days repair work at Larapan temporary bridge in Linamon, Lanao del Norte. The repair works which will be done for four (4) hours daily starting March 11, 2014, will require total bridge closure during the idle hour of 10:00 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon so that motorists may utilize the bridge during the usual travel peak hour.
