Ayala Bridge to Fully Open June 11

Ayala Bridge in San Miguel, Manila will be passable to vehicular traffic both directions by June 11, 2015.

For public safety reasons and barring unforeseen circumstances, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has moved the partial re-opening of the bridge to light vehicles by mid-May to full opening on June 11 due to the complexity of the rehabilitation activities on the bridge’s superstructure and retrofitting works on its substructure.

DPWH Utilizes New Technology for the Lifting of Ayala Bridge

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has begun the lifting of the historical Ayala Bridge in San Miguel, Manila, showcasing a technology adopted for the first time in the Philippines.

DPWH thru project contractor Frey-Fil Corporation/EEI Corporation Joint Venture is raising the bridge freeboard clearance by .70 meters using strand jack technology, a heavy lifting system used worldwide to lift bridges, buildings and other structures.

The historic Ayala Bridge in San Miguel, Manila is undergoing rehabilitation works to restore structural integrity which also includes raising the bridge by .70 meters for navigational clearance of vessels passing Pasig River. Inauguration of Lullutan Bridge in Isabela

President Benigno S. Aquino III and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson lead the inaugural drive-through of P700-million Lullutan Bridge in Ilagan, Isabela. Spanning the Cagayan River, the 500.6-meter bridge is one of the longest bridges built for Region 2, connecting Barangays Camalagui and Lullutan in the municipality of Ilagan. Prior to its completion, farmers had to travel via barges to transport their agricultural products to markets.

DPWH Chief Warns Bidders - Disclose Only the Facts

Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio L. Singson issued a policy directive calling the attention of contractors who are prospective bidders for DPWH infrastructure contracts to disclose all their ongoing and completed projects with the government and private entities.

“I noticed that some contractors or bidders do not disclose complete information of their ongoing projects. In some instances, their submitted documents for eligibility do not have information on ongoing contracts particularly those with the private entities,” Secretary Singson said.
