Villar: DPWH busy for Holy Week road works

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will take advantage of the low volume of vehicles in Metro Manila during this Holy Week to undertake road improvement works.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that although light vehicular traffic is anticipated since most of the people are either staying in their homes or are on vacation in the provinces during this Lenten week, motorists and the general public are still advised to expect slowdown/build-up in some sections of major thoroughfares.

Situational Report on major roads and bridges

As of 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, all national roads and bridges in Ilocos Region are passable to all types of vehicles.

Two (2) road sections however are one (1) lane passable in Ilocos Sur due to on-going bridge and slope protection projects:

1) KM 380+100 of Manila North Road in Barangay Sulvec, Narvacan (Bridge reconstruction)
2) KM 356+800, KM 356+920 and KM 358+800 of Tagudin - Cervantes Road in Barangay Man-atong, Suyo (Slope protection project)

DPWH mobilizes skeletal force in Southern Leyte for Holy Week

Motorists who will spend the Lenten season in Southern Leyte can expect 24-hour assistance along major roads as the Southern Leyte District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways reactivated its “Lakbay Alalay” program from April 10-17, 2017.

A skeletal force consisting of 16 personnel and mechanics from the District Office is deployed in six strategic areas along national roads to assist the riding public on emergency situations.
