DPWH Reports 12 Roads Still Closed due to Landslide, Flooding
As of 6:00 am Monday, November 18, 2024, a total of 12 road sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions 2, 3, and 5 remain impassable due to the combined effects of Tropical Cyclones Nika, Ofel, and Pepito.
The Department of Public Works Bureau of Maintenance (DPWH-BOM) identified the road closures along the following roads:
More Road Closures Reported in Northern Luzon Amid Combined Effects of Tropical Cyclones
As of 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, seven national road sections in Northern Luzon remain impassable due to the combined effects of Tropical Cyclones Nika, Ofel, and Pepito.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has reported additional road closures in Apayao, Ifugao, and Batanes caused by landslides, soil collapses, and washed-out infrastructure.
The DPWH Bureau of Maintenance identified the affected road sections as follows:
1. Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, Lacnab Section, Barangay Kabugawan, Calanasan, Apayao due to soil collapse.
DPWH Prepares Response Teams for Severe Tropical Storm Pepito
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has prepositioned its Regional and District Disaster and Incident Management Teams (DPWH-DIMT) to respond to the potential impact of Severe Tropical Storm Pepito, which is expected to make landfall this weekend.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that teams are now under Blue Alert, signifying readiness for a full-scale disaster management wherein all resources are activated and made available for deployment.
Flood Control Structure Protects Agri Areas in Lupon, Davao Oriental
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the construction of a revetment wall in Barangay Maragatas, Municipality of Lupon, Davao Oriental that ensures heightened protection to farmland communities, further stimulating livelihood activities in the area.
In a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office XI Director Juby B. Cordon said that the completion of the project aims to augment agricultural production, particularly bananas and coconut trees, which are the farmers' primary source of income in Sitio Logdeck.

DPWH Upgrades Sta. Barbara Road Leading to Dumangas RoRo Port, Iloilo
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken improvement works along Iloilo City-Leganes-Dumangas Coastal Road to ensure convenient and faster access to Dumangas Roll-On Roll-Off (RoRo) Port in Iloilo province.
DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel identified the completed project as the asphalt overlay of a four (4)-lane, 5.13-lane kilometer portion, specifically in Sta. Barbara section.
