Engr. Ernesto S. Gregorio, Jr. earned his degree in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology in 1981 and thereafter, became a registered Civil Engineer.
He started his professional career as a Quality Control Engineer in a private construction company, Capitol Industrial Construction Group, Inc (CICG, Inc.) and has extensively built his engineering career doing quality control works, inspections of vertical and horizontal works including construction of Ports for five (5) years (1981-1985).
His government service began in August 1985 as Technical Planning & Evaluation Engineer (Equivalent to Engineer I position) at the Program for Essential Municipal Infrastructure and Utilities, Maintenance and Engineering Development (PREMIUMED) Office, a World Bank funded Municipal Development Program, under the then Ministry of Public Works and Highways and rose from the rank until he was promoted as Assistant Project Director (Project Manager I-Salary Grade (SG) 25) in 1998 and as OIC Project Director of PREMIUMED in 2002.
From then on, having shown his exemplary dedication, integrity and efficiency in handling his assigned tasks, Engr. Gregorio was promoted as Project Manager III, SG-27, has been appointed to various DPWH Project Offices as: Assistant Executive Director, Traffic Engineering Center; Assistant Project Director, Special Bridge Program; OIC-Project Director, Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP)/Rural Water Supply Program.
Engr. Gregorio’s strength of character in the implementation of infrastructure projects and managerial competence has been recognized with his designation in June 2012 as OIC-Bureau Director of the Bureau of Equipment (BOE). During this stint at BOE he was instrumental, through the trust and confidence of the DPWH Management, in the procurement of various Basic Highway Maintenance Equipment and necessary Dredging Equipment for infrastructure works. In addition to this, he was designated as Vice-Chairman for the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) for Goods and a Member of the DPWH Central Selection Board.
In August 2013, after almost a year in the DPWH Bureau of Equipment, Engr. Gregorio was transferred to a more challenging endeavor as Officer-In-Charge of the Bureau of Maintenance (BOM), which basically oversees the asset preservation of all infrastructure projects of the Agency and is mandated to ensure at all times a well maintained and safe infrastructure at par with international standards. In February 2014, Engr. Gregorio was appointed by His Excellency President Benigno C. Aquino III as Bureau Director (SG-28), BOM which has enabled him to pursue the Department’s trusts and objectives thru the leadership of Secretary Rogelio L. Singson in professionalizing the DPWH.
