DPWH fast tracks bridge project to help island community in Zamboanga Sibugay

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the second phase of a bridge project that will benefit a small island barangay in the Municipality of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

DPWH Region 9 Director Jorge U. Sebastian Jr. said about 5,000 residents of the island barangay of Kaliantana can soon easily access the mainland of Naga upon the completion of Kaliantana Bridge that will be under third phase of construction.

DPWH: Landmark Bridge in Isabela underway

Works are on-going for the construction of a 720-lineal meters landmark bridge project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to replace overflow bridge structure connecting the towns of Sta. Maria and Cabagan in Isabela province.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, Region 2 Director Melanio C. Briosos said that the P639.6 million bridge project across Cagayan River is expected to be completed next year.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to begin construction of a P36-million Evacuation Center as temporary shelter for families displaced by calamity in Ormoc City, Leyte.

A groundbreaking ceremony led by DPWH Leyte Fourth District Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez and Assistant District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio with Ormoc City Mayor Richard I. Gomez marked the beginning of the project that will be built at Barangay Danhug, Ormoc City.

DPWH plans for Mayon ready

Regional and District Risk Reduction  and Management Teams of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Bicol Region are on alert status as indications of unrest and eruptive activity of Mayon Volcano intensifies.

In his report to Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 5 Director Danilo E. Versola ordered the District Engineers of the three (3) DPWH District Engineering Offices in the Province of Albay to closely monitor national road network and river channels in their jurisdiction that may be affected by the rapid lava flowing down the slopes of Mayon Volcano.

Tumagbok Bridge in Miagao town reconstructed

The ongoing reconstruction of the Tumagbok Bridge in Miagao town is in full blast, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office VI.

The ₱200 million project project involves the construction of 4 lanes, 3 spans Pre-Stressed Concrete Girder (PSCG), Type IV Bridge on bored pile foundation, including electrical lights, approaches and slope protection, with the total length of 35 meters.

The new bridge is being widened from the old, 2-lane bridge to complement the widening along the Iloilo-Antique Road.
