Undersecretary Romeo S.
Momo’s
commendable performance in his chosen profession did not escape then
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s keen judgment as Her Excellency
has selected him from among the many aspirants to the vacant
position of Undersecretary of the Department of Public Works and
Highways (DPWH).
From being the good
Regional Director of DPWH CARAGA Region, he was promoted him
Undersecretary in June 2008. His stint at the Department since his
Civil Engineering Aide days in 1974 at the then Bureau of Public
Highways was served mostly at the CARAGA region holding various
positions.
Usec Momo has attended
numerous trainings and seminars conducted here and abroad. These
include the American Society of Civil Engineers Association (ASCE)
Convention in Orlando Florida, USA in November 2007; Road
Engineering Association of Asia and Australiasia in Bangkok,
Thailand in June 2005; DPWH’s Management Training on
Leadership for Regional Directors, Reorientation Course for Key
Officials, Management Development Course for Executives, etc.;
Salamin at Diwa sa Paglilingkod by the Career Executive Service
Board; and other trainings sponsored by other agencies.
Usec Momo’s vast
experience and exemplary accomplishment in the field of engineering
construction and supervision was recognized by being one of the
recipients of the Most Outstanding Field Executive Award for CY 2003
and CY 2004. He is an active member of the Philippine Institute of
Civil Engineer (PICE); Road Engineering Association of the
Philippines (REAP); Rotary club of Butuan District and Jacinto D.
Elpa Alumni Association. He is also the District Deputy Grand Master
of #26 Free and Accepted Mason of the Philippines.
Usec Momo has 18 units
of Master in Public Administration from Bukidnon State College in
1997. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
in 1974 from the University of Mindanao and became a licensed Civil
Engineer in 1975.
USec Momo was born on
August 6, 1952 in Tandag, Surigao del Sur. He is married to Eleanor
Darvin, a businesswoman. They are blessed with four (4) children
namely Rommel, Romeo Jr., Ruel and Melanie.
