Appointed DPWH Officer-In-Charge by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo

3, 2007, DPWH Senior
Undersecretary Manuel M. Bonoan, has
spent more than half of his life in the Department as a Civil
Engineer having started his career as civil engineering aide in 1967
during his senior year in Civil Engineering at the Mapua
Institute of Technology. A year after, he passed the licensure
exams and was promoted as Junior Civil Engineer, a job he
held for only seven months, after which, he was again promoted as
Civil Engineer of the then Bureau of Public Highways.
From
then on, he rose from the ranks until his appointment as DPWH
Assistant Secretary for Planning in August
1987, Undersecretary
in July
1, 1998, and Senior Undersecretary from July 4, 2007 to
present.
To
beef up his civil engineering knowledge, Senior Undersecretary Bonoan has
finished his graduate diploma in Highway Engineering at the
University of South Wales in Sydney, Australia in 1976. He
also attended various trainings, seminars and international
conventions among which are:

Active in related professional organizations, Senior Undersecretary Bonoan
became President of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE)

Consultants (SPAC) (CY 1998-1999); President of the Road
Engineering Association of the Philippines (REAP) (CY
1994-1996); member of the Association of Government Civil
Engineers of the Philippines (AGCEP); member of the
Philippine Water Works Association (PWWA); and, member of the
Transportation Science Society of the Philippines (TSSP).
Senior
Undersecretary Bonoan, married with two (2) children, is both a licensed
civil engineer and environmental planner.
