DPWH 110TH
ANNIVERSARY KICK-OFF ACTIVITY

Magandang umaga sa inyong lahat.
Sa araw na ito, ating pinasisinayaan ang pagdiriwang ng
ika-isandaan at sampung anibersaryo ng Kagawaran Ng Mga Pagawain At
Lansangan Pambayan.
One hundred ten years of service, that is what we are celebrating
this year. And it is but fitting that we honor the institution and
all those who came before us with a series of activities that
underscore the experience and the endurance of the Department of
Public Works and Highways.
The occasion of the Department’s 110th Anniversary also comes at a
time when we are at the forefront of a renewed surge in expanding
the network of roads and bridges that link our country to the
future and to progress.
This is indeed a good opportunity for each one of us to take stock
of how well we have done things since 1898. There is much to learn
from the past.
This occasion is also time for us to renew our commitment of
service. As we take these lessons to heart, we must also pledge to
do an even better job in the days and years ahead.
Our chosen theme underscores the wealth of experience and the dept
of our strength as an institution and as a team. These tools of our
service must be harnessed for the good of the many, for the future
of the generations ahead.
Nararapat lamang na ating gamitin ang karanasan na siyang nagtatag
ng haligi nitong bayan natin para lalong mapalawak ang daan ng
kalakalan at kaunlaran.
Let the 110 years of the DPWH inspire us all to work 110 percent
every day.
Sa dami ng mga malaking proyektong nakasalang sa bawa’t distrito,
lalawigan at rehiyon, dapat lamang na 110 percent ang ating ibuhos
na sipag at tiyaga.
Let the 110 years of the DPWH push us to do our jobs harder, faster
and better.
Gaya ng nakasulat sa banner na binaba kanina: tibay ng serbisyo ang
puhunan natin para matupad at matapos lahat ng gawaing pambayan na
ating ipinapatupad.
Nakaasa ang ating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal–Arroyo at ang
sambayanang Pilipino sa tibay ng serbisyo nating lahat.
We are at the forepront of the infrastructure investments of the
future, as we fast-track public works projects that will fast-track
our progress.
In closing, I invite each and every member of the DPWH family to
help make this 110th anniversary celebration a truly memorable
event.
We will not only celebrate but also commemorate the legacy of
service of service and the record of success of the people who have
made the DPWH what it is today.
Sa pagkakataong ito, nararapat lamang na ang tibay ng serbisyo ang
maging tatak ng asenso ng DPWH at ng bayang Pilipinas.
The challenge is not only to serve but also to make our service pave
the way for real progress, for every community across our land.
Let our service build the bridge to progress and let our strength
build the road to prosperity.
Let the message of our 110th anniversary be heard loud and clear:
the men and women of the DPWH are standing together as one team and
building on the strength and experience of 110 years of bridging
people and progress.
