Assistant Regional Director - Region XI

Behind the subtle and calm presence of HADJI PUNDIDATO LAMPING MITMUG is a dedicated public official who made significant contributions to the infrastructure development in Mindanao. A true-blooded Mindanaoan, he is a seasoned civil engineer with more than thirty-four years of service.

He started his career as a Civil Engineering Aide I at the Bureau of Public Highways, Lanao del Sur in July 1970, shortly  after graduating from his Civil engineering course at the Manuel L. Quezon University in Manila.

Even during his early years in the government, Assistant Director Mitmug had demonstrated the characteristics of a good leader.  Because of his exceptional abilities, he moved up the career  ladder at a remarkable pace.  He became  Assistant Highway District Engineer of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi in 1975 and was later reassigned to Lanao del  Norte,  where he eventually became Highway District Engineer in 1980.

From 1986 to 1988 Assistant Director Mitmug served as District Engineer  in Jolo, Sulu and later in Sultan Kudarat. On May 20, 1996, he got appointed as Assistant Regional Director of DPWH XII.  He was reassigned in Region XI on January 22, 2002 and later became OIC-Regional Director from July 24 to November 6, 2007.

One of his notable achievements during his early years in the service was the construction of a bailey bridge connecting the islands of Bongao and Sanga-Sanga Islands, Tawi-Tawi in 1974.  In the height of conflict with the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), he was assistant project engineer of the BPH team which undertook the construction of the bridge that did not only link the two islands for the first time but opened economic opportunities to the growing  population, as it greatly improved access to the airport located in Sanga-Sanga.

Another significant project he handled as District Engineer of Sultan Kudarat was the upgrading and rehabilitation of the Bagumbayan-San Vicente-Kulaman Roads in Sultan Kudarat from 1989 to 1994, which linked the coastal municipalities of Lebak and Kalamansig.

Through the years he honed his leadership and professional skills through study  and work.  He completed forty units in his Masters in Public Administration course at the Mindanao State University, Sultan Kudarat Extension  from 1983-1985.  He has also attended various professional trainings and seminars such as the Highway Bridge Design (1976); Road Engineering in Asia and Australia  (1978); Road Safety and Engineering Management (1983); Seminar Workshop on the New Highway Maintenance Management System (1983); Advance in Civil Engineering Technology (1983); Engineering for Rural Development  (1988); among others. Recently, he participated in the Information Technology Training for Executives.  For him, the learning process never stops, even when one has reached the top.

Assistant Director Mitmug was born on 23 January, 1946 in Lumba-Bayabao, Lanao del Sur.  He is married to Andang Dima-ampao Dimaporo, and is a doting father to seven children namely;  Amron, Abdul Fattah, Jamellah,  Mohammad Faiz, Roqayah, Abdul Nassif, and Abdul Ghaffur.
