Investors and job opportunities will soon flourish in fast growing economy of Cagayan De Oro City as the Department of Public Works and Highways reported the near completion of Cagayan De Oro 3rd Bridge and Access Road Project.
Crossing the Cagayan De Oro River connecting Barangay Puntod and Kauswagan, the Cagayan De Oro 3rd Bridge project is expected to attract more investment and generate job opportunities as it connects the existing national road network in Opol, Misamis Oriental to the City Port Road in Puntod, Cagayan De Oro City.
In his report to DPWH OIC-Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Region 10 Director Sinaolan Macarambon said that the project is now 95.11% complete and expected to be completed after the settlement of road right-of-way claims and implementation of the catch up plan programmed in the 2007 DPWH Regular Infrastructure Projects.
“ Secretary Bonoan has strict orders to accomplish much of the scheduled works this summer season, we are now coordinating with the right-of-way claimants so that we can immediately start the remaining works” Macarambon said.
The project involves the construction of four lanes 352 lineal meters of pre-stressed concrete bridge and 8,465 lineal meters access road, mostly with embankment along coastal route, and construction of reinforce concrete deck girder over Iponan River in Brgy. Iponan.
This P 878.9 Million bridge and access road project is funded under the regular DPWH Infrastructure Fund. |

DPWH TO COMPLETE BRIDGES ALONG ILIGAN-CAGAYAN DE ORO ROAD |

To ensure the structural integrity of bridges, the Department of Public Works and Highways is undertaking retrofitting works for thirteen (13) vital bridges along Iligan-Cagayan de Oro Road.
In his report to DPWH OIC-Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH-ADB-Project Management Office (ADB-PMO) Director for Mindanao Subair Diron said that the contractors IP. T. Adhi Karya, Vicente T. Lao and JVI are catching up with their works to complete the bridges this month.
Undergoing retrofitting works are the following bridges in Iligan Cagayan de Oro and Butuan Roads namely Agus, Tubod I, Tubod II, Manticao, Old Iponan, CDO Carmen, Marcos, Bigaan I, Bigaan II, Cugman (South Bound), Cugman (North Bound), Agusan I and Villanueva bridges.
These bridges, costing a total of P 197.839 Million, are part of the Asian Development Bank 6th Road Project Bridge component.
The retrofitting works involve reconstruction of approach slab, deck slab, diaphragms, shear keys, backwall, wingwall, pavement markings, concrete overlay at median, concrete encasement of bearings, expansion joint repairs, painting of steel members, asphalt overlay, pre-stressed concrete copings, bored piling per column support and steel tie plate connector.
Works also include fabrication of rebars, casings for regular piles and copings, driving of steel casing for regular bored pile, drill and bond for coping, retrofitting of footing, pier scour protection, cable restrainer, non-seismic repairs, repair of concrete by plastering, RSB fabrications, bearing replacement, painting of steel truss members, replacement of superstructure of span 1 and 2 and replacement of deck slab for steel truss bridge.
Once the retrofitting works of the bridges are finished, travel along the Iligan-Cagayan de Oro road shall be smoother and faster, Diron said. |
