DPWH FAST TRACKS P80 MILLION INFRA PROJECTS IN BACOLOD CITY

  Building foundations for sustainable economic development especially in rural areas, the Department of Public Works and Highways reported the fast track implementation of P 80 Million worth of infrastructure projects in Bacolod City. Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr. said that the department is now prioritizing projects that aims to uplift the living conditions of residents in rural areas. “ We are putting all our efforts to drive economic development thru progressive public works especially in farflung areas” Ebdane added. DPWH Region VI Director Rolando Asis said that as to date 50% of the 25 major on-going projects in Bacolod City are already completed while the remaining projects are implemented as planned. In his report to Director Asis, DPWH Bacolod City OIC-District Engineer Norma Delonguines said that among the accelerated on-going projects are the repair and rehabilitation of the Bacolod Circumferential Road, P20 Million; widening of South-Kabankalan Road, P10 Million; Construction of certain portions of the Bacolod South-Kabankalan Road, P10 Million; and the widening and improvement of the Cabalagnan Bridge 1 in Brgy. Pahanocoy. P8.5 Million. Among the completed projects are the concreting of Alangilan Road, painting of the Bacolod Central Market, drainage and box culvert at Brgy. 12, Brgy Punta Taytay, construction and improvement of Brgy. 11 multi-purpose hall, concreting of Bacolod City- Granada boundary road, rehabilitation and widening of Banago Road, multi-purpose buildings at Rizal Elementary School and Medel Elementary School in Tangub.

DPWH TO BOOSTS WESTERN VISAYAS ECONOMY BY PROVIDING HIGH IMPACT INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

  Internationally known for its white beaches and rich coastal areas, the Department of Public Works and Highways reported the acceleration of Western Visayas economy by providing quality and efficient infrastructure facilities. In his report to DPWH OIC-Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH Region 6 Director Rolando Asis said that the completion of four major DPWH high-impact projects in the region will provide better road network and improve economic condition of the region as these roads shall also provide investment and employment opportunities among the residents and nearby provinces in Western Visayas. Included in the on-going Strong Republic Nautical Highway project are the Infante Flyover in Iloilo City, Metro Iloilo Radial Road Project, Iloilo-Anini-y-Villavert-Jimenez Road, and the Maayon-Curter- Junction Iloilo-Capiz Road Project. “ In support with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s thrust in achieving economic stability through infrastructure investment, these projects would surely facilitate the transport of people, goods and services along the Western Nautical Highway which serves as a strong foundation for economic development” Asis said. Under the Presidents Bridge Program, the P 400 Million worth, 305.80 lineal meter long Infante Flyover is now being constructed at the intersection of Infante and Gen. Luna and expected to be completed within the year. Funded under the Rural Road National Development Projects-Phase III (RRNDP-III) Fund the Metro Iloilo Radial Road involves the construction of the P 34 Million Iloilo- Sta. Barbara Road, P 40 Million Pandan, Libertad, Antique-Aklan Boundary Road and the P 60 Million Concrete paving of Iloilo City-Caticlan Highway and the P 27.8 Million Maayon Junction Iloilo/Capiz Road. “ With the orders of Secretary Bonoan, we are now speeding up the construction of these vital projects and strictly monitoring their implementation to assure quality of work and would be completed on schedule” Asis added.
