Theme: “Building on the Strength and Experience of 110 years of Bridging People and Progress” and Slogan: “Tibay ng Serbisyo”
DPWH Region IV-A Officials and Employees started its third work-week (April 14, 2008) for the month of April at 7:30 in the morning. Unaffected by the slight downpour of rain prior to the flag-raising ceremony, all are excited to know what the Region IV-A Officials will announce in connection with the Department’s Anniversary for this year.
The meaningful invocation, singing of the National Anthemn and recitation of the Panunumpa sa Watawat and Panunumpa ng Kawani were led by employees of the Office of the Regional Director. Following these was Assistant regional Director (for Maintenance Operations) Armando G. Estrella’s narration of the Organization’s colorful history commencing even before the arrival of the Spaniards in 1898 up to the present.
Assistant Regional Director Huillio B. Belleza (for Construction Operations) announced the essence and meaning of that morning’s endeavors. He informed every one of the various year-long activities lined-up by the Department Leaders to celebrate the 110th Anniversary.
The Region’s prime mover, Regional Director Bonifacio O. Seguit, powerfully re-delivered the speech of Honorable Secretary Hermogenes E. Ebdane, Jr. during the main launch of the 100th Anniversary at the DPWH Central Office. For his part, Director Seguit encouraged all Region IV-A employees to actively participate on all activities. He also encouraged everyone to continue to excel in their fileds of work and embody the thrust of DPWH’s existence: public service.
Highlighting that morning’s launch was the unveiling of the 110th Anniversary theme: “DPWH: Building of Strength and Experience of 110 years of Bridging People and Progress” and its Slogan: “Tibay ng Serbisyo” led by none other than the Region’s top management, Regional Director Seguit and Assistant regional Directors Belleza and Estrella. The ceremony yielded a warm applause from the employees. Following the unveiling was a rare family photograph taking with all Region IV-A Officials and Employees. |

DPWH COMPLETES REPAIR OF TANGGOY ARCH CULVERT BRIDGE IN BATANGAS |

Aiming to immediately make the Balayan-Baliobago Road passable especially during the harvest time of sugar cane in different towns of Batangas, the Department of Public Works and Highways reported that the collapsed Tanggoy Arch Culvert Bridge is now passable to all types of vehicle.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr. DPWH Region 4-A Director Bonifacio Seguit said that as of today (January 29, 2008) the Tanggoy Bridge main structure is now completed which makes the Balayan-Balibago Road open to all kinds of vehicular traffic.
Implemented by the DPWH Batangas 1st District Engineering Office, District Engineer Rosario Adapon said that with the completion of this project, sugar cane producers would surely increase their profit as it will assure immediate delivery of their produce in the market and sugar processing areas.
It can be recalled that the 50 year old bridge collapse last November 2007 during the onslaught of typhoon “Mina” and “Lando” due to old age and based on the request of Congresswoman Aileen Ermita-Buhain, the DPWH were able to make the bridge passable after a month a month of construction.
Engr. Adapon added that to assure public safety, they are coordinating for the possible needed P 4 Million funds for the remaining protective works such as pavement, masonry, slope protection and river embankment works around the existing bridge structure. |
