The Department of Public Works and Highways formally re-opens to traffic the 30 lineal meters San Miguel bridge in Majayjay, Laguna.

The re-opening of San Miguel Bridge addresses the problem of isolation and travel inconvenience among residents.
‘With this newly reconstructed bridge, a manifestation of the sincere desire of the government to bring productivity, progress and development in the countryside, we can look forward to heightened economic activity in Majayjay, Laguna”, said Undersecretary Momo.
San Miguel bridge also known as Olla Bridge was among the infrastructure damaged at the height of typhoon “Santi: in October 2009.
The bridge reconstruction project was started in July 2010 under contract with Jaime B. Ching Enterprises and strict supervision of Laguna 1st District Engineering Office.
The bridge is made of single span pre-stressed concrete girder type IV-A, girder structure and concrete sidewalks on circular column spill through abutment on spread footing foundation.
Aside from the bridge proper, the project also involves the concrete paving of 200 lineal meter bridge approaches including combination of gravity wall type II and grouted riprap slope protection and other related activities. |
