DPWH COMPLETES NEW AGRI-ROAD PROJECT IN ISABELA |

A total of 18 agricultural communities in five barangays in the province of Isabela are now expected to increase their weekly income as the Department of Public Works and Highways recently completed the San Antonio Road project.
This P14.4 Million road opening project has a total length of 8.3 kilometers that traverses the agricultural farms of Barangay San Antonio, Annaronan Daque, Angasimos and Calibabagan in Cabagan and Barangay Biga in the municipality of Sto. Tomas.
DPWH Region II Director Eugenio Pipo Jr. said that farmers will now save for at least 80 to 100 pesos per trip on transport cost and about 30 minutes of travelling time in delivering their farm products to the market areas and trading posts.
“ Considering that Isabela is one of the food basket in Northern Luzon we are giving priority on the completion of road networks that are adjacent to the identified agricultural areas” Pipo said.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson, Pipo also reported the completion of two road concreting projects in in Isabela. These are the 1,612 lineal meter road concreting project along Ilagan-Bigao-Palanan Roadproject with a total cost of P14.5 Million and the 3,554 lineal meters road concreting project along Ilagan-Delfin Albano-Mallig Road with a total cost of 35.2 Million. |

DPWH FAST TRACKS TOURISM ROAD PROJECT IN REGION II |

In order to further strengthen the tourism sector in the country particularly in Cagayan Valley, the Department of Public Works and Highways is now speeding up the construction of the 11.675 kilometers San Vicente-Gutan-Lubak-Nangaramuan-Puzo Rubo Road project in Sta. Ana, Cagayan.
The famous scenic destinations and historical landmarks in Sta. Ana, Cagayan such as the Cape Engaño Lighthouse, Gotan mangrove forest and waterfalls, the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and the numerous white beaches like Anguib beach and Mapurao beach will attract more local and foreign tourists when the said road project is finished.
To date, the said road project is now 77.04 percent complete. DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said that one of the priorities of the department is the immediate completion of road projects leading to major tourism areas in the country.
“In terms of priority projects as pronounced by President Aquino, we will focus on strategic tourism support infrastructure in coordination with other infrastructure agencies and LGUs”, Singson said.
DPWH Region II Director Eugenio Pipo Jr. said that once completed, the said road project will also facilitate easy transport of agricultural products in Northern Cagayan and will also encourage more investors to start business in the area therefore opening more business opportunities for the residents.
Fast tracking of more road projects nationwide should be expected in the succeeding months to comply with the tourism development programs of the administration. |

ROAD PROJECTS FOR ISABELA
AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY, COMPLETED-DPWH |

In support of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino’s agricultural development program, the Department of Public Works and Highways completed the repair works along Santiago - Tuguegarao road and river bank protection project in the province of Isabela.
The asphalt overlay project of the Santiago-Tuguegarao Road will speed up the transport of agricultural products such as rice, corn and sugarcane to the major market and food processing facilities. It will also provide a more reliable and safer road not only for the local traders but also for the tourists who are visiting said province.
DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson said that the Department is now also undertaking the strategic allocation of more infrastructure projects in coordination with other concerned government agencies such as Department of Tourism and Agriculture.
The road repair project involves the asphalt overlaying of 835 linear meters of road amounting to P9.6M funded by the preventive maintenance fund for 2009.
DPWH Region II Director Eugenio Pipo Jr. said that the repair of the said road section was needed to prevent further deterioration of the existing old pavement carriageway and to improve the riding convenience of the travelling public. The asphalt overlay project is also expected to minimize the possible future cost of road maintenance for the said road.
Meanwhile, the river bank protection project located at Nuesa, Roxas, Isabela includes the construction of 112 linear meters of bank protection structure, which costs P5 Million which was funded by the Department of Energy from the Malampaya Fund of 2009.
The said riverbank protection project will mitigate the further erosion of the riverbank therefore securing the agricultural lands in the area and will also guarantee the safety of the residents, schools and other commercial |

DPWH COMPLETES VARIOUS SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN BATANES |

Considered as one of the emerging tourists destinations in Northern Luzon, the Department of Public Works and Highways reported the completion of six new infrastructure projects in the island province of Batanes.
DPWH Secretary Victor Domingo said that this newly completed infrastructure projects in Batanes will play an important role in the socio-economic development plan of the province not only for the tourism industry but also for the job-generation program of the national government.
“ More importantly, these new projects will improve the living condition of the residents in the area, because improvement of infrastructure facilities will lead to faster delivery of goods and services in the island province” Domingo added.
DPWH Region II Director Eugenio Pipo Jr. said that majority of the programmed works for the Batanes Island was completed on schedule because of the good weather condition.
Among the newly completed DPWH projects are the rehabilitation of Basco Port Road and Mayan-Mauyen Airport Road, rehabilitation of municipal road along brgy. Hanip, construction of Basco Water System Phase III, construction of flood control project and seawall in Brgy. San Joaquin and construction of school building at Batanes National Science High School. |

DPWH COMPLETES 141 SCHOOLBUILDING PROJECTS IN
CAGAYAN VALLEY REGION |

In preparation for the next school year, the Department for Public Works and Highways in Cagayan Valley Region reported the completion of 141 school building projects.
DPWH Secretary Victor Domingo said that these 141 school building projects costing a total of P68.7 Million was funded by the Department of Education and was implemented by the DPWH district engineering offices in the region.
As the government infrastructure arm, we are also prioritizing the immediate completion of the government’s school building program to improve the quality of education in the country, Domingo said.
DPWH Region II Director Eugenio Pipo Jr. said that he had assigned a school building project team leader to focus on the implementation of the project to strictly monitor the implementation of the project.
“ Out of these 141 school building projects, the Isabela 3rd District Engineering Office has completed 30 school building projects, followed by Cagayan 1st with 19 and Isabela 2nd with 15 projects” Pipo said.
Meanwhile, a total of 13 other infra projects such as multi-purpose hall and covered court buildings under the Various Infrastructure Legislative Program (VILP) are also completed in the region. |

P649 MILLION DELFIN ALBANO BRIDGE COMPLETED-DPWH |

The Department of Public Works and Highways announced the completion of the P649.6 Million Delfin Albano Bridge Project in Cagayan Valley Region.
The Delfin Albano Bridge project connects the Pan Philippine Highway and Santiago-Tuguegarao Road and provides an alternate route to the municipality of Tumauini bypassing the congested towns of Ilagan and Cauayan City in the province of Isabela.
“ This new bridge is vital among the agricultural communities in the area as it speeds up the travelling time from the farm lands to the major trading posts in the market area” DPWH Acting Secretary Domingo said.
Meanwhile, in his report to DPWH Acting Secretary Victor Domingo, DPWH Region II Director Eugenio Pipo Jr. said that aside from the Delfin Albano Bridge, the DPWH Region II Office has also completed three high impact projects, namely; the P 330 Million improvement of the Bitnong-Belance Mueva Vizcaya Boundary Road, P103.7 Million construction of DPWH Regional Office Buidling and the P100 Million upgrading of Magapit Mission Road.
The 7.2 concrete paving of the Magapit-Mission road in Lal-lo and Sta Teresita towns is considered as expressway to the Cagayan Export Processing Zone and lessens the travelling time going to other municipalities of northeastern Cagayan.
Meanwhile, the Bitnong-Belance Road project in Nueva Vizcaya aims to develop rural road network that provides access roads from far flung barangays to the major arterial road links.
The new DPWH Regional Office No. 2 Building entails savings as it cuts off the annual rental fee from the former DPWH Office in Tuguegarao City. The new two-storey, 1,407 square meter DPWH Office is located at the Regional Government Center at Carig, Tuguegarao City. |
