DPWH: 36-km Arnedo Dike Needs P20B for Total Rehab

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) bared that the 65-year-old, 36-kilometer Arnedo Dike – now known as “Pampanga River Bank” – needs at least P20 billion for the full reconstruction and rehabilitation of the whole structure from Arayat to Apalit towns.

DPWH Assistant Regional Director Loreta M. Malaluan said the department is doing its best to obtain full funding for the dike repair.

However, the amount of P20 billion is highly improbable to be approved by both houses of Congress for the Pampanga River Bank alone.

DPWH Pampanga 1st Assistant District Engineering Engr. William “Bong” Bustos said they are now working for the rehabilitation of the damaged portion of the dike in Barangay Cupang, with funds of P45 million and another P50 million, for the scoured section of the dike in San Luis town.
