Construction of 3-classroom School Building at Agkawayan Elementary School in Mambusao, Capiz has been completed to provide more conducive learning venue for students.
Implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Capiz Second District Engineering Office under the leadership of District Engineer Rafael C. Valenzuela and Assistant District Engineer Nonie A. Viyar, the schoolbuilding project costing P1.9 Million is part of the DPWH-DepEd Convergence Program.
The project is one of the significant infrastructures implemented by the District in the said community in pursuit of augmenting the educational development not only of the students but teachers and local folks as well.
Although situated in one of the most far flung areas in the town, the completed project underwent inspection by a team from the DPWH Capiz 2nd District Engineering Office to ensure compliance to DPWH standards.
“We can now provide a much better educational facility for our students. Before, we have to please ourselves with makeshift classrooms. Some of my teaching staff has to literally stay here and has to go home only during weekends considering that Agkawayan Elementary School can be accessed through a motorbike or by a multi-cab when the weather is good” said Mrs. Narcisa Villorente, Teacher-In-Charge of Agkawayan Elementary School.
The school official is much appreciative to the DPWH Inspectorate Team headed by OIC-Asst. District Engineer Nonie A. Viyar together with Engr. Maria Merle Belarmino- OIC Chief-Construction Section, Engr. Yolanda Pugna-Chief, Planning and Design Section and Engr. Milalyn Dolor from the Quality Assurance Section. Indeed, there is much joy to celebrate as the project will benefit the children of the community in their journey to become better citizens of the country, no matter how far is Agkawayan Elementary School from “civilization”.
“What a fulfilling experience indeed considering the odds along the way one can truly say “Dangerous Height Does Not Matter.” said OIC-Asst. District Engineer Viyar
