Regional Director Melanio Catolico Briosos’ public service career and expertise in civil engineering rooted from his 40 years of experience in the Department.
Engineer Briosos assumed the position of a Regional Director for Regional Office II in September 1, 2016. Prior to this, he already served the Department as OIC-Assistant Regional Director of Region I in 2013 and as Assistant Regional Director of Region II in 2005.
He bagged two consecutive recognitions as the Outstanding Field Executive awardee for 1991 and 1992.
Director Briosos attended trainings, seminars, conventions, and conferences such as Nationwide Comprehensive DPWH Field Engineers Training Course; Design and Construction of Bridges and the National Building Code; Geo-Technical Engineering; River Engineering and Sabo Works; Annual Career Executive Service National Conference; and Field of Water Resources Development in Japan sponsored by JICA.
He passed the Career Executive Eligibility Examination on June 2001.
Director Briosos attended St. Mary’s College finishing his Bachelor in Civil Engineering degree in 1976. He also attended St. Louis University in Cagayan where he completed his Master in Public Administration degree and also earned 18 units of academic requirements for his Doctorate in Public Administration.
Born on July 25, 1954 in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, He is married to Marites Basca with four sons namely Julius, Redentor, Bryan, and Harold.
