About the
Director
Like
his other colleagues in the Department, Director Walter R.
Ocampo started his government career on temporary appointment
status (as laborer) on March 1975.
From that lowly position, Director Ocampo rose from the
ranks and held several positions. He became
Civil Engineering Aide, Construction Foreman, Civil
Engineer, Supervising Civil Engineer, Engineer III, Engineer IV,
Engineer V, Project Manager I, Assistant Bureau Director
(Director III) and got the nod to be the regular Director of
Bureau of Construction in March 2006.
Having
been with the Bureau of
Construction since 1983,
Director Ocampo has mastered every piece of activities
in the bureau from review,
evaluation
of programs, estimates, contracts to progress reports of DPWH
projects, as well as inspection, checking and monitoring
construction projects of DPWH implementing offices and other
agencies.
As
one of the experts
in the Department, Director Ocampo has been resource speaker
of trainings and convention on topics such as bridge parts and
components, bridge repair and rehabilitation, project
assessment (procedures/techniques and data gathering on
bridges), reorientation for DPWH officials, monitoring of
action plans on DPWH reforms, among others.
He
has authored/co-authored books namely Anda Bridge from
Recycled Materials, Bored Pile Construction Methodology, and
Member of Committee of Review of National Building Code.
To
further develop his skills, he attended several seminars,
among them are: Project Monitoring and Information System,
Project Management and Supervision, Supervisory Development,
Materials Engineering and Quality Control, International
Advanced Training Course on Bride and Tunnel Construction and
Management for Managerial Staff, Quality Control in Concrete
Construction, Workshop on Advanced Technology for Bridge
Construction, Bridges and Highways Engineering Congress,
Seminar on Pile Dynamic Analysis, among others.
A
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering holder from the
University of the Assumption, he also earned Masteral units in
Structural Engineering at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
and is a member of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers
(PICE).
He was born on December 6, 1957 in
Floridablanca, Pampaga.
