Road Infrastructure Safety

Improvements in procedures, with training is also on-going for road safety for new techniques for planning, prioritization and programming of road safety projects, Road Safety Audit, and enhancing and publishing the Philippine Road Signs Manual and Manual on Pavement Markings. A Traffic Accident Recording and Analysis System was implemented nationwide and this project was completed in July 2004.

A Traffic Accident Recording and Analysis System (TARAS) as demonstrated below has been implemented to assist the Department in identifying blackspots and improving safety project planning. This is contingent upon accident data collection by the PNP. Investigation procedures and training, as well as project evaluation procedures for accident blackspots are also being institutionalized.

Road Safety is also being improved. In 2004, the national safety program and road safety audit procedures will be implemented; and Highway Safety Design and Road Works Safety Standards have  been updated.
