Pavement and Bridge Management Systems

  • Supports needs analysis, multi-year programming and annual budgeting for the preservation of road pavements on the national road network and national bridges, customized to local conditions.
  • These applications were implemented in February 2004.

The Bridge Management System can be used to identify the bridges requiring upgrading, replacement and major maintenance. The system will be able to prioritize the works when the budget is constrained at the time of preparation of the annual and multi-year program. Availability of Bridge Inventory and Condition data are critical to this system.  Procedures to collect data regarding condition of bridges as well as training have been completed. This procedure, developed in conjunction with BMS, will help to collect comprehensive bridge data and support sustainable bridge inspection program.

The Pavement Management System provides needs analysis, multi-year programming and annual budgeting for the preservation of road pavements on the national road network and national bridges, customized to local conditions.  The system can be used for evaluating various scenarios and generating information required for long-term plan road development and preservation. It can also be used to prepare optimized multi-year road work programs. The extent of implementation will depend on the availability of traffic and road condition data.
